Demonstration Test Design Using
the DRT Tool in Weibull++
Demonstration test design is typically used to show
that a certain product has met or exceeded a given reliability
at a given confidence level. While it is desirable to be able to
test a large number of units in order to obtain the reliability
information for a product or design, time and resource
constraints sometimes make this impossible. In such cases, it is
necessary to design a test that will demonstrate the requirement
while meeting the constraints on the number of units available
for use and/or the length of time available for testing. Quite
often, it will be desirable to demonstrate that the goal has
been met with a zero-failure test and, at the same time, to keep
the testing cost as low as possible. [1] In this article, we
show how to use the Design of Reliability Tests (DRT) tool in
Weibull++ 7 to
design such a demonstration test. To read more, see

Reliability
Basics |
Reliability Allocation Using
Lambda Predict
When developing a new product
or improving an existing one, engineers are often faced with the
task of designing a system that must meet a certain set of
reliability specifications. This involves a balancing act in
order to determine how to allocate reliability among the
subsystems/components in the system. In this article we will
introduce several different reliability allocation methods,
which are included in ReliaSoft's
Lambda Predict
software.
