How can Lambda Predict prevent data loss?
Lamba Predicts Auto Backup window allows you
to create backup files of the projects automatically. This window can be
accessed by clicking Auto Backup on the Other page of the User
Setup.

You can turn on automatic backup by
selecting the Auto backup every X Min. checkbox, then specify the
frequency of the backup in the input box.
Number of files allows you to
specify the number of backup files that you want generated. If you enter
1, then the application will generate only one backup file that will
continually be updated every X minutes (as specified in the Auto backup
every X Min. input box). If you enter a number greater than 1, then the
application will generate that number of backup files. The backup files
will continually be updated every X minutes in a circular method. For
example, if you enter 10 for the backup interval and 2 for the number of
files, then the application will generate the first backup file at 10
minutes and the second backup file at 20 minutes. At 30 minutes, the
first backup file will be updated. At 40 minutes, the second backup file
will be updated, and so on.
The backup file will be given the same
name as the project file and will be saved to the same location as the
project file with the extension (*.bak). If you specified for more than
one backup file to be generated, then the backup file names will be
appended with ~P1, ~P2, etc. To restore a backup file, rename the file
and change the extension to (*.LPP) so that the application will treat
it as a Lambda Predict project file.
How can data entry be
simplified in Xfmea and RCM++?
For consistency and to save effort, Xfmea
and RCM++ provide numerous ways to save time and reduce errors by using
pre-defined information to facilitate data entry. These include:
- Bulk Add window: To add
multiple function, failure, effect, cause, control or action records at
once to your analysis based on existing records from the current
database and/or from phrase sets, select the Bulk Add option from
the corresponding menu.
Select one or more records from the
list at the top of the window. You can select multiple records in the
list by pressing the Ctrl or Shift key. You can filter
these records using the fields at the bottom of the window.
You can change the records available in
the Bulk Add window on the Options tab. This tab allows you to select to
obtain descriptions from all projects in the current database or from
the current project only. You can also choose to obtain descriptions
from the active phrase sets and select which phrase sets you want to be
active, using phrase sets that were shipped with the application and/or
phrase sets you created or edited in the Profiles/Libraries Manager.

- Select Existing window: When
entering a description in a properties window (e.g. Item
Properties window, Failure Properties window, etc.) or adding/editing
records in the FMEA Worksheet view, you can use existing descriptions
from the current database and/or from active phrase sets by clicking the
Select from existing icon next to the description field.

In the FMEA Worksheet
view, you can also access the Select Existing window by choosing
Select Existing from the Edit menu or from the FMEA Worksheet
shortcut menu.

The Select Existing window works
similarly to the Bulk Add window, except that you can select only one
description at a time. You can also select Replace to replace any
existing description or select Append to append the description
to any description that may already exist at the location of the cursor.
- Copy Existing window: When
entering properties in a properties window (e.g. Item
Properties window, Failure Properties window, etc.) you can copy all
of the properties from an existing record by clicking the Copy
Existing icon at the bottom of the window.

In the Copy Existing window, the
properties that apply to the current properties window are displayed for
all existing items or records. You can select the row that contains the
properties that you want to copy and click OK to copy the
existing properties into the current properties window.
