Field Data
In last month's issue of the HotWire, we
presented
reliability testing and its importance to a reliability engineering
program. While reliability testing is vital to the implementation of a
reliability program, it is not the only source of product reliability
performance data. Indeed, the information received from the field gives a
"true" measure of product performance and is directly linked to the
financial aspects of a product. In fact, a significant portion of field data
may be more finance-related than reliability-related. However, given the
importance of the link between reliability and income, it is important to
ensure that adequate reliability information can be gleaned from field
performance data. In many cases, it is not too difficult to adapt field data
collection programs to include information that is directly applicable to
reliability reporting.

Likelihood Ratio Confidence Bounds
In
Weibull++, there are
several methods available for calculating confidence bounds: Fisher Matrix,
beta binomial and likelihood ratio. In this month's issue of the Hotwire,
we will present the basic theory behind likelihood ratio (LR) confidence
bounds. Conceptually, this method is a great deal simpler than that of the
Fisher Matrix; however, this does not mean that the results are of any less
value. In fact, the LR method is often preferred over the FM method in
situations where there are smaller sample sizes.

when using the Crow Extended model?
While the Crow-AMSAA and Crow
Extended models are applicable within a test phase, how can
reliability growth be tracked across test phases in RGA?
How can the improvements across
different stages be evaluated in reliability growth analysis?
