How can I perform criticality analysis in Xfmea?

To open the Criticality Analysis utility, select Criticality from the Project menu in the Project window. (When performing the analysis on a single item only, you can right-click the item and select Item Criticality from the shortcut menu.) In the Select Items window that appears, select one or more items from the current project that you want to include in the criticality analysis and click OK. The Criticality Analysis utility will appear, as shown next.

The Criticality Worksheet that appears in the middle of the window displays the information required for the criticality analysis and allows you to modify the Mode Ratio, Probability of Loss, Mission Phase, Severity Class and Failure Probability values, if necessary. Please note that you may have to re-size the window and/or scroll through the Criticality Worksheet to view all the columns. In addition, the columns that appear in the window depend on whether or not the Show Columns for Qualitative Analysis option is selected.

The following forms can be selected to be included in the report:

• FMECA Report Summary generates a one-page summary that lists the forms that are included in the report.
• Criticality Analysis (Standard) generates a report form that presents the quantitative criticality analysis in a tabular format that is based on MIL-STD-1629A but includes some modifications to the header information and uses customized column headings.
• Criticality Ranks generates a report form that presents the items and failure modes, ranked by item criticality and then by mode criticality.
• Criticality Analysis (MIL-STD Quantitative) generates a report form that presents the quantitative criticality analysis in a tabular format that is based exactly on MIL-STD-1629A.
• Criticality Matrix (MIL-STD Quantitative) generates a report form that presents the quantitative criticality analysis matrix, as defined in MIL-STD-1629A with Severity Classification on the horizontal axis and Mode Criticality on the vertical axis.
• Criticality Analysis (MIL-STD Qualitative) generates a report form that presents the qualitative criticality analysis in a tabular format that is based exactly on MIL-STD-1629A.
• Criticality Matrix (MIL-STD Qualitative) generates a report form that presents the qualitative criticality analysis matrix, as defined in MIL-STD-1629A with Severity Classification on the horizontal axis and Failure Probability on the vertical axis.
