How can I include custom properties in my Xfmea/RCM++/RBI projects and analyses?

Xfmea, RCM++ and RBI come with predefined profiles for all major FMEA reporting standards (such as AIAG, SAE J1739 and MIL-STD-1629A), which makes it easy to configure the analysis workspace to fit any of the supported standards. In addition, you can customize any of the sample profiles or create your own profiles to meet the specific needs of your organization.

For items in the system hierarchy and for the analyses that you work with in your project, you can also modify the interface style to enable user-defined properties to record the information specific to your needs. This includes text fields, date fields, number fields and drop-down lists. You can also use the Worksheet Columns page to specify exactly where the property will display in the analysis worksheet.

For example, in Version 9 or 10, if the FMEA team wants to record the failure mechanism of a cause separately from the cause description, choose Project > Management > Configurable Settings > Interface Style, then go to the FMEA > Causes page to enable and rename one of the available user-defined text fields to describe the failure mechanism.

Next, go to the Worksheet Columns page and place the Failure Mechanism field after the Potential Cause(s) of Failure field.
