Important:
Installation of ReliaSoft's Weibull++ 6 (Service Pack 3, CRV 6.0.8 or higher) and a valid
Weibull++ 6 license are required in order for RDA to operate. For Weibull++ 7
users, this functionality is built-in to the software (Non-Parametric RDA Folio)
and there is no need to download/install a separate utility.
ReliaSoft's RDA Utility
was designed for recurrent-events data analysis and plotting in accordance with the techniques described by
Dr. Wayne Nelson in Recurrent-Events Data Analysis for Product Repairs, Disease Episodes, and Other Applications, published in 2003 in the
ASA-SIAM Series on Statistics and Applied
Probability. Dr. Nelson provides an overview of the method in a
Reliability Edge article entitled Graphical
Analysis of Repair Data. This example uses the data set from this article.
Entering
Data in the RDA Utility
The following table
provides repair data for 34 cars in a pre-production road test (transmission
data from Nelson's article). For each car, the data set consists of the car
mileage at each transmission repair and the latest mileage. For example, car 24
had a repair at 7,068 miles and it was observed until 26,774 miles. In this
table, the letter F indicates a failure time and the letter S indicates a mileage observation
without failure.

The
following screen shows the data set, as entered in the RDA utility.

When the data set has been entered, you can click the
Plot icon to display the MCF vs. Mileage plot that was generated for the
data. You can also click the Report tab to display the MCF calculations and confidence bounds.
